We are bold in presenting our news as we move to all Maa counties across the country.

First elected in 2013 as Ewuaso Enkidongi MCA, Justus Kilesi Ngussur, had his ups and downs in his political life during his second term.

An astute debater, Ngussur served in various portfolios of the Kajiado county assembly with professionalism.

Ngussur also served at one time as the leader of the minority, and sat on the public investment committee, among others.

The soft-spoken UDA politician, who was elected on a Jubilee ticket in 2017 had a colourful career until after the election of that year when he later with the former nominated MCA Onesmus Ngogoyo, who is now the Kajiado North MP, differed with governor Joseph Lenku.

Ngogoyo(when he was Olkeri MCA), Ngussur, George Sunkuyia, who was at the time Keek-Onyokie MCA, and Ongata Rongai MCA Mwathe Pere, on March 17, 2016, had accused Lenku of using state resources for his 2017 election campaigns.

When Lenku won the governor’s seat in 2017, he worked against Ngogoyo and Ngussur.

Lenku declared in public meetings that he had no soft spot for the two and others, which he claimed had made his life unbearable.

The war between the governor and the MCAs was fought in the county assembly, but the governor was unable to manipulate the assembly after brushing speaker Johnson Osoi’s wrong side.

Ngussur worked with his troops in the last assembly to the end of his second term and later quit ward politics to contest for the speaker position.

When the UDA proposed him for the speaker’s position, Lenku in a swift move named lawyer Koin Lompo as his Azimio candidate to scuttle the chances of Ngussur being elected.

Daniel Kukan (Imaroro) was elected deputy speaker.

Today, the 40 MCAs were sworn in and later went into a division to vote for the speaker and deputy.

The UDA had 21 MCAs but one out of the number had not been gazetted, and on the other side of the Azimio, there were 20 elect and nominated MCAs.

In the first round of voting for the speaker, Ngussur garnered 25 votes against Lompo’s 15. In the second round, Ngussur managed 26 votes against Lomo’s 14. It emerged that some of the Azimio MCAs (6) voted for the UDA.

In the election of the deputy speaker, Daniel Kukan (Imaroro) from UDA was unanimously elected.  The Kajiado county assembly clerk Leboo Saisa declared Ngussur the winner.
