Susan Natasha is still at home after her single mother could not raise her school fees in Form One, two months after her colleagues reported to high school.
Her father, Ole Kisemei, was the family breadwinner but died years back, and her mother, Katitu ene Kisemei is now struggling to provide food for Natasha and her siblings.
Natasha, who scored 267 marks in her KCPE, has not reported to Olooseos Girls’ Secondary School because her mother cannot raise the amount.
“My daughter was above average at Kitengela Mixed Day and Boarding Primary School, and after sitting for her final examination, I cannot raise her school fees,” said Natasha’s mother in Kitengela on Thursday.
She said her daughter has been crying ever since she selected to join high school, adding that she cannot even raise enough money for food at home.
Before her husband died, she says, he had sold the piece of land they owned and that they are now living on borrowed land in Kitengela.
Natasha requires Sh35,000 for fees this year and Sh14,680 for her uniform at Olooseos Girls’ Secondary.
