The county commissioner has launched investigations on media claims one of his five deputies is extorting hopefuls for the position of assistant chief.
Joshua Nkanatha on Monday evening told KNU he had just received the report alleging that a senior administrator is being investigated by DCI.
“I have just seen it, we shall definitely investigate the matter and take appropriate action if it turns out to be true,” said Nkanatha.
The matter hit the public domain on Sunday after a local daily published it in its columns that the administrator is in the crosshairs of corruption busters for alleged extortion.
The newspaper reports indicated claims that sleuths are following leads that the administrator has taken money from 21 residents for four slots, promising each of them that they will be appointed.
The price for the position is understood to be Sh200,000 and some of the complainants have had to sell their livestock to raise the amount.
Kajiado has six sub-counties headed by deputy county commissioners in the West, South, Central, Isinya, Mashuuru, and North.
