Whoever will be nominated for the gubernatorial contest in ODM will face the incumbent, Joseph Lenku of Jubilee and another one from UDA.

The orange democratic movement party will adopt the consensus method in its nomination rules ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The party’s national elections board chairman, Catherine Mumma, told the Star on Thursday, the party is going out there with one message to its candidates – create room for consensus.

“We want a smooth process where all the concerned will feel satisfied. We do not want quarrels and fallout after grassroots nominations,” said Mumma on the phone.

Mumma made the statement one day after Kajiado ODM party politicians met to set their own nomination rules on Monday.

The meeting that was attended by members of the ODM national elections board led by Mumma agreed that all nominations would have been compiled between January and February 2022.

Speaking after the meeting two Kajiado gubernatorial candidates on the ODM ticket, Tarayia ole Kores and David Nkedianye were in agreement that consensus in the arty’s grassroots nomination is the best option.

“I am ready to reach out to my colleague here, Nkedianye so that we maintain strong bondage ahead of the general elections,” said Kores.

Kores said the task ahead of the January/February deadline is voluminous and require strong hearts to put the party intact as candidates are picked.

Mumma failed to explain why the party decided to adopt consensus instead of the normal process of voting, but Kores said that is the only method that will keep the party intact.

Neither Nkedianye nor Kores opposed the consensus method in the meeting that was also attended by hundreds of prospective aspirants.

Kores said all the 25 elective ward and 5 MP positions will be contested by ODM candidates in Kajiado county.
