A bridge connecting three wards through the Eselenkei River to commercial farms in the three sub-counties of Kajiado is under construction.
The project that is being financed by the county government, once complete in the next three months, will benefit farmers doing commercial horticulture farming in Kenyewa/Poka Ward (Kajiado East), Imbirrikani/Eselenkei Ward (Kajiado South) and Matapato North ( Kajiado Central).
Dubbed Paai Bridge, because of its strategic position, is expected to bring to an end the nightmare farmers experience in the three sub-counties when they lack access to the outside market.
During the rainy season, the Eselenkei River, which is the largest seasonal river in the area threatens the lives of those who attempt to cross it.
“This bridge will boost economic and social interactions among resident communities and potentially open up the area to local and national wholesalers of horticultural produce,” said the county roads minister, Alex Kilowua.
