We are bold in presenting our news as we move to all Maa counties across the country.

Miners have taken over the Daraja Road in the Nkurrunka area of Kitengela and are now mining building stones without the authority of the county government.

Residents of Nkurrunka led by a former Councillor Marush Kisemei are up in arms over the way miners have damaged close to 30 metres of the road.

“We have reported this matter to the chief of the area but it appears we are dealing with powerful people on this matter,” said Kisemei.

Kisemei claimed the mining of stones is happening during the day and night and his effort to reach out to officials of the county government has never been successful.

Pictures posted on social media by residents show big gallows created by illegal mining on Daraja Road. Also appearing on the pictures are heavy machines for blasting the Nkurrunka building stones.

County Roads CEC member Alex Kilowua, while responding to the matter, promised immediate action.

“I am sending my team to the area first thing in the morning on Friday to act on the matter,” said Kilowua through a text message.
