Two youth admitted at Kajiado hospital with bullet wounds will be arraigned for attempting an attack on a police officer.
Kajiado Central Sub-County Police Commander, Daudi Lornyokwe said on Sunday the two are recuperating at the County Referral Hospital and will be arrested on recovery and charged.
Lornyokwe said the two were shot and injured after they cornered a police officer with machetes during demonstrations in Bissil on Thursday last week following the arrest of former Matapato North MCA, Lesalaon Seki.
Seki had been arrested by police over claims of inciting the local community to kill wild animals straying into their farms.
After his arrest, the entire town of Bissil was brought to a standstill after supporters barricaded the main Kajiado/Namanga road with boulders and burning tyres.
“Those two boys were going for my officer with machetes but fortunately another armed officer stopped them. They were wounded on the legs and as soon as they are discharged we will charge them in court,” said Lornyokwe.
The sub-county police boss claimed the two youth was among hundreds of others who blocked the road during the riots that took the better part of Thursday.
He said Seki was released on a police bond after arrest and asked to report back at the station this week.
Kajiado Kenya Wildlife Service boss Muteru Njauuini said Seki was arrested on allegations of inciting the public against wild animals.
