One person died and another one received multiple injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and rolled several times along Namanga Road.
The two are employees of the Kajiado County Government’s fire-fighting department and were driving to Namanga border town on COVID-19 sanitisation exercise on Thursday evening.
Kajiado Central Sub-County Police Commander, Daudi Lornyokwe, confirmed the incident and said the driver of the government vehicle lost control of it near Maili Tisa urban centre, a few kilometres to Namanga.
“My officers have gone to the scene and the injured civil servant has been brought to Kajiado County referral hospital. I will give you more details once I talk to my local Officer Commanding Police Station in Namanga town,” said Lornyokwe.
County Health CEC member Esther Somoire said the injured official had already been admitted to the county referral hospital but she had not received any details of how the accident occurred.
The county government on Monday announced that it will undertake a program to sanitise all the urban towns and markets starting from Wednesday.
Sanitisation began in Embulbul and Ngong market on Wednesday as praying in Kitengela, Kajiado and Namanga town markets were yet to start this Friday.
