A former teacher at Olmotiany Primary School in Bissil, Kajiado County, who escaped into Tanzania after defiling his daughter was arrested on Friday morning.

After his arrest, the suspect, Geoffrey Kapaito was arraigned in court before Kajiado Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

The prosecution charged Kapaito with incest that he allegedly committed in July last year and later went to a neighbouring country to escape arrest and prosecution.

Shitubi denied the suspect bail and argued he is a flight risk. She ordered him locked at Kajiado police station until Monday when his daughter will be appearing to in court to testify.

The prosecution said the suspect in July last year went to pick his sick daughter from school and went through Bissil shopping centre where he bought her a new dress.

While walking home, the prosecution explains to court, he repeatedly raped his daughter in the bush and when the daughter revealed what happened the man went “underground”.

Kapaito lost his position as a teacher after absconding from his duties while outside the country.
