A police officer based at Athi River Police Station was fatally shot and his wife injured at their Kitengela home on Friday night.
Isinya sub-county commander Silas Ringera said on Saturday the deceased and his wife were rushed to Nairobi Women Hospital at 4.30 pm after the shootout but the police officer was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ringera said officers from Kitengela visited the deceased house at EPZ Estate and recovered three 9 mm spent cartridges from the scene of the attack.
“My officers also visited the hospital where they established that the deceased was shot at the left side of the chest, left side of neck, and left side of his rib,” Ringera said.
He also said the deceased wife was also shot on her left hand elbow. She is admitted at Nairobi Women Hospital in Kitengela town where her health was today described stable by doctors.
The police commander said the deceased wife was robbed of Sh9,300 in cash and 1000 was transferred from her Mpesa account by the thug, who also fled with two phones all valued at Sh20, 000.
