One person was fatally injured after the vehicle they were traveling in lost control and rolled several times on Kajiado/Namanga Road on Thursday morning.
Three others traveling in the same car were rushed to Kajiado County referral hospital with serious injuries on their bodies after the 6.20 am road accident that occurred several metres their car crossed Olkejuado River in Ildamat Ward.
Kajiado Central deputy sub-county commander, Josephat Kiarie, gave the name of the fatally injured as Esther Joseph, 32, (Tanzanian) and said her body was moved to Kajiado Hospital mortuary.
Kiarie gave the name of the driver of the ill-fated car that was said to have been heading to Tanzania through Namanga as Father Daniel Mose (Kenyan).
The other two passengers who came out with injuries and were taken to the same hospital are; Christopher Mumba (Zambian) and Michael Nkutwa, 37, (Tanzanian). Mose, speaking with difficulty, said all his passengers were Catholic priests and were traveling to Tanzania when the accident happened.
Isaac Terere, an eye witness who arrived at the scene immediately the vehicle rolled, said he heard a loud noise before he saw the car lost control and rolled severally.
“Everyone was thrown far away from the car except for the driver who was under the vehicle. I called other people to assist me to remove the driver,” said Terere.
Terere said he saw items such as rosaries and bibles in the car which made him guess that the victims were working for a Church.
The police confirmed the ill-fated car had burst a hind left tyre before it lost control. The place where the accident, the police said, is a black spot.
