Opposition doyen, Raila Odinga, will today grace a thanks giving ceremony at the home of Ng’atataek senior chief, Daniel Kupai.
Raila Amollo Odinga.
Kupai will be celebrating his promotion as senior chief, while his wife Grace Monirei will share the same platform in thanksgiving for her second nomination as ODM MCA.
The two leaders are close associates of the opposition leader, Raila dating back to when the late CS, General (rtd) Joseph Nkaissery was Kajiado Central MP.
The Kupai’s will be hosting other leaders led by local MP, Kanchory Memusi of ODM, who appears to be widening his political relation gap with deputy president William Ruto.
As leaders troop to Ng’atataek today, political ground appears pregnant with surprises owing the fact that Kajiado Central has for many years been considered pro-opposition.
ODM Nominated MCA Grace Munei
While no one can ever pre-determine Raila’s political moves, there is likelihood that the opposition doyen may throw a politically motivated shot to the Matapato community and the county at large.
It will be interesting to listen to opposition bigwigs during the occasion, and especially when those other leaders in the ruling party will be around at hand.
All in all, all the leaders from both political divide will be granted opportunity to address the guests in Kajiado but the last whistler during the occasion will obviously be Raila.
With the highest number of opposition MCAs led by outspoken Ildamat representative, Samuel Teum and Imaroro’s Amos Peshut, many issues ranging from mismanaged water resources and dilapidated roads may pop up to the discomfort of the ruling class in the county.
In a vibrant and political space provided today, only the wise politicians can poke holes in stalled service delivery issues because that is the only time those at the helm can hear.
Governor Joseph Lenku’s political rival in 2022 gubernatorial race, Tarayia ole Kores, if indeed he will attend, is also expected to use the occasion to campaign and to tell the people of Kajiado why he is better than the sitting county CEO.
On the Jubilee and the ruling class side, we will be expecting the likes of nominated MCA Onesmus Ngogoyo, who never loses any given opportunity to gag Kores.
Ngogoyo, an old political comrade of Kores, has a way of going back to the stage to hit at his attackers even if he was given a chance to speak first.
Either way, if Jubilee leaders fail to attend the occasion – the event will still be interesting as the opposition will have their day without any inconvenience of time running out. KNU, as usual will cover the event live from Ng’atataek from 11am.
