Police in Ngong, Kajiado County, are seeking arrest of a Church Minister who allegedly beat up his wife after she asked him for money to buy food.
The incident occurred on Thursday and was reported at Kiserian police station on the same day she was admitted to Enkitok Hospital in Kiserian.
The Star established on Saturday morning that Lucy Lotuno, the wife of Pastor Daniel Lotuno of Ilmasi AIC, Kiserian in Ngong region, escaped from the hospital after her husband’s relatives insist she retracts her statement from the police.
Lucy had earlier claimed she was beaten in front of her children after asking for Sh2000 to buy food stock.

“Other than my children some of our neighbours saw me being beaten by the pastor. This was not his first act because he has been beating me severally. Every time he beats me, he prefers to call in elders to come and unite us,” Lucy said on her phone, which went dead immediately after speaking to the Star.
Our effort to get her at the hospital on Friday was thwarted by the same relatives who prevented journalists from accessing her.
The woman had earlier agreed to talk to the Star but her relatives colluded with nurses and concealed her within the building on orders of the husband who is seeking to use elders in reconciliation.
Lucy, who has three grown children, is in her 40s and confused how she will tackle the case after her children who saw their father beating her refused to record their statements with police.

Ngong OCPD Joseph Mwika confirmed the assault and said the suspect went under after the matter was reported to the police and registered on the occurrence book as – OB 31/16/08/18.
“She has hostile relatives who have refused to share information of his whereabouts with the police. Let me be on record that we will eventually bring him to book even in the absence of more information of his act. We are also appealing to Lucy’s neighbours to volunteer information so the police arrest the suspect and prosecute him,” said the OCPD on the phone.

Our effort to track down the suspect through his phone hit a solid wall after we realised he switched it off after committing the offence.
Some of his neighbours who talked to us said they feared being quoted and described Pastor Lotuno as “ruthless man of God who can fix anyone crossing his path”.
Latest information in public domain indicated the battered wife of the pastor has taken refuge at the home of Bishop Peter Mankura of Dominion Chapel Ministries in Kajiado.
When we contacted the Bishop, he said he is in Narok on official duties and that he has information Lucy is at his home in Kiserian.

“It is true she is in my home but I am away in Narok. I am also told she has been reconciled with her husband by local elders. This was a small issue which has been blown up by the media. It is not a big issue and the two have finished that matter. It is good that people to reconcile,” said the Bishop.
