A man accused of killing his nephew for two life insurance policy covers amounting to Sh9 million in Kangundo sub county has been arraigned in court.
Evans Kasyoki (Pictured left) appeared before resident magistrate K. Kemei at Machakos High Court today on Wednesday but did not take a plea.
The accused has been charged with causing the death of his nephew, the late Erick Musyoka in March 2014.
Kemei directed the suspect be taken to Mathare Hospital for mental assessment.
“The accused person will take plea on September 17. Meanwhile, the accused will be remanded at Machakos G.K Prison,” said Kemei.
Kemei further directed the defence to put a formal request for bail and serve upon the same to the prosecutor.
The magistrate also directed that the prosecution supply the defence party with the reply.
The late Musyoka had two life insurance policies though his family claims it had no knowledge of such.
