A 25 year old woman from Namanga is nursing serious injuries at the Kajiado County Referral Hospital after she was violently attacked by her husband.
Nasikoi Kimana (Pictured), a mother of four, said her husband came home drunk on Friday night, last week, and beat her up without any provocation before taking a knife and stabbing her severally from her back and stomach.
Luckily, she managed to escape and hid herself in the goat’s pen before she passed out.
Neighbors who heard her screams for help rescued her and rushed her to hospital where she was immediately booked for an operation.
“I was asleep with the children at the time he came home drunk and started beating me for no reason. This was not the first time he was doing so because he always gets violent when drunk. He stabbed me on my head, stomach and back but I managed to escape and hid in the goats’ pen” she said.
Kimana called on the police to arrest her husband who was still at large adding that she is afraid of her life as he had sworn to ‘finish’ her.
She spoke to the Star on Wednesday night at Kajiado County Referral Hospital.
Confirming the incident Kajiado Central OCPD, James Kimani, said the attacker took off after committing the act.
Kimani called on residents to report his whereabouts to the police so he can be arrested and charged for the offence.
He noted that cases of assault were on the increase in Kajiado and urged couples to solve issues amicably without resorting to violence.
Meanwhile, in the same hospital, a day old baby was abandoned by her mother last evening.
The woman who is being sought by police for abandonment gave birth to the baby boy weighing 1.0 kg on Monday morning before escaping and leaving the baby behind.
Kajiado Central Children’s officer Enock Manwa said the baby was in a stable condition and they were following up with the police to find the mother.
