Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito has reacted sharply to press reports painting a “grim” picture at Leinkati Primary School in his constituency.
The story carried earlier on Tuesday by KNU revealed the school that is tacked 48km east of Kimana town has been making news in social media for all the wrong reasons.
Katoo said; “We do not even have baboons in that area as reported. Not even one. This is just the work of busy bodies from the area…Lost boys, who never see positives issues in their localities.”
The MP, whose CDF has been voted the most exemplary in the management of its programs, said the school has classes and he is happy of its performance.
He said he is constantly in touch with all the schools in the constituency and would always be contacted whenever there are issues requiring his attention.
The legislator, however, did not deny the existence of other wild animals around the school, adding that indeed the school is in the wildlife conservation area.
He asked; “If the school did KCPE last year, where were they sitting for their exams if it is true there were no classes?”
As earlier reported the school has an Early Childhood Development Centre class with a capacity of 52 children.
ECD centres across the country are devolved and county governments are now charged with their development and recruitment of teachers.
In reality, CDF funds that are supervised by MPs cannot be used in the construction of ECD centres.
