Kajiado County Assembly Minority Leader Samuel Teum of Wiper Party was on Tuesday bundled out of his House position by ODM MCAs.
In the late evening ‘coup de dat’ Teum was dethroned from his position and handed over to Oloosirkon/Sholinke Ward MCA, Francis Kaesha.
There was no immediate comment from Teum, a vocal Ildamat MCA who in the recent past has been taking majority MCAs by their horns on the floor of the House during debates.
Kaesha brought the notice of intended changes to the floor of the House after 5 pm when the temporary speaker, Onesmus Ngogoyo, was on the seat.
Ngogoyo, while reviewing the notice said Kaesha had conformed to the standing orders of the House by sending the notice to the speaker earlier on April 17.
Kaesha, who brought the motion to the assembly said; “Pursuant to the Standing orders number 16 (5), I hereby bring to your attention the decision arrived at the honourable party members of ODM in regards to change of leadership in the house”.
He went on; “Mr. Speaker Sir, owing to this, the change in leadership in house is as follows; Hon. Kaesha is the new minority leader; Hon Daniel Naikuni is the deputy minority leader; Hon. Dickson Nkaloyo is minority whip, while Paul Matuyia is the deputy minority whip.”
Kaesha said there would not be any changes in the sectoral committee membership.
He said the decision was reached during a meeting held on April 3, 2018 at Laitoli Hotel where all ODM MCAs were present.
The temporary speaker, Ngogoyo, accepted the changes proposed by ODM leadership in the assembly without amendments.
