Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku has made major changes in the county finance department by re-designating and transferring directors.
In a move to rein in on alleged corruption, Lenku on Friday moved director of budget Tipape Naini to the department of agriculture.
Naini was also acting as director of revenue in the finance department.
Director of economic planning Douglas Keton, who previously acted as the expenditure director and officer in charge of Ifmis, was moved to trade.
Director of procurement and supply chain management Jonathan Meijo was moved to the health services docket.
Jonathan Turere, who previously acted as the director of economic planning in the finance department headquarters, was moved to the revenue section.
Some of the officers who were affected by the changes were not clear about whether they had been redeployed or their positions had been re-designated.
They argued that re-designation conditions as per the county government Act, section 69 had been violated.
“The reshuffle has violated the individuals’ professional path. This is not deployment, but re-designation because it is also important to note that the positions the individuals have been moved to do not exist,” an aggrieved official said.
He wondered how some officers trained on budget issues will serve as directors in departments such as health services.
Lenku extended the contracts of all chief officers by three months.
