We are bold in presenting our news as we move to all Maa counties across the country.

Kajiado governor-elect, Joseph ole Lenku and his deputy Martine Moshisho are expected to be sworn into office tomorrow August 18.

The ceremony which will be held at the Maasai Technical Training Institute (MTTI) grounds will be conducted by Justice Stephen Riechi and assisted by Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

Lenku, who is coming in after thrashing outgoing governor David Nkedianye in the just concluded elections, managed to get 17 elected members of the county assembly on Jubilee and Party of National Unity that supports the ruling party.

National Super Alliance got 8 MCAs, which was an improvement from the 2013 general elections when the Orange Democratic Movement of Raila Odinga managed only tow MCAs.

This time round ODM received six MCAs, while Wiper party managed two.

With a popular support in the new county assembly, governor Lenku is expected to govern the county with ease unlike his predecessor, Nkedianye, who suffered many stumbling blocks from the tyranny of numbers from The National Alliance.

At some point, Nkedianye was frustrated when he attempted to form his cabinet and all his choices were rejected by MCAs.

It took close to five months for Nkedianye to put up his government in place and as soon all was done, the MCAs refused to pass his budget in 2014 financial year.

The MCAs at time complained the governor had allocated his office a “colossal” sum while the county assembly money was slashed by the executive.

The saga went on for close to a month until the governor had to give in and reduced the amount to “acceptable” level before the budget was passed.

The delay impacted negatively in the implementation of the county projects up to this last year of elections when Nkedianye was defeated in his second bid.

Another issue that affected the operation of the last county assembly was the number of illiterate MCAs who had been elected. Some of them had never seen the inside of a classroom.

Most of those who have now come in are university graduates with exemplary education credentials.

The newly elected MCAs in Jubilee are; James Gitau (Olkeri), Robert Mworia (Ngong), Mpete Meshuda (Kuku), Joseph Masiaya (Magadi), Julius Moipai (Imbirrikani/Eselenkei), Moses Saoyo (Keek-Onyokie), Peter Parsen (Kimana) and Jackson Mpaada (Iloodokilani).

Others are; Joseph Mwaicha (Nkaimurunya), Martin Kimemia (Oloolua), James Lesere (Dalalekutuk), Hosea Toshi (Matapato South), Henry Kimiti (Kenyewa/Poka), Justus Ngossor (Ewuaso Oonkidong’i), Mwathe Pere (Ongata Rongai) and Lengete Kamete (Rombo).

The Only PNU MCA is Paul Muterian (Entonet/Lenkisim).

Wiper party has Amos Peshut (Imaroro), Samuel Teum (Ildamat) and Joshua Olowuasa (Kaputiei North).

Those is ODM are; Francis Kaesha (Oloosirkon/Sholinke), Dickson Nkaloyo (Matapato North), Daniel Naikuni (Purko), and Peter Tirishe (Mosiro).
