Kajiado governor David Nkedianye yesterday Wednesday refused to concede defeat after rejecting IEBC results pitting him and Jubilee candidate Joseph Lenku.
Nkedianye, who trailed Lenku from behind with 130, 738 votes against Lenku’s 159, 761, called on the people of the county to maintain peace and reject any results coming in from Bomas of Kenya.
“We have established the results being relayed to you by IEBC is not reflection of what transpired on the voting day. These are sham results and do not represent the votes you gave me,” said Nkedianye.
The governor spoke at Bush Camp resort in the outskirts of Kajiado town when he said he is waiting for a final word from IEBC before making another statement.
He said NASA and IEBC are in consultation and will only accept the results after the ODM party has completed verifications of poll documents.
The governor had earlier visited the IEBC tallying centre at Maasai Technical Training Institute where poll results were being streamed and left immediately after alerting journalist about his press conference.
He said there was no way Lenku could beat him in the race and claimed the results were “doctored” to suit certain people in the race.
“This was a sham election and our party leaders are on top of things. We will get to the bottom of this before we tell our people the way forward,” Nkedianye finally said.
