Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Kajiado Joseph Ole Lenku was cleared today by IEBC soon after the ODM governor aspirant, David Nkedianye, had been issued.
The two heavy weights in the race immediately went different directions with their supporters.
Lenku, who was escorted by a fleet of more than150 cars, went to the south as he addressed his followers in Bissil, Maili Tisa and Namanga.
He was in company of his youthful running mate, Martine Moshisho, and other county Jubilee politicians from the county assembly.
Nkedianye attended Madaraka Day event in Kitengela where he listened to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s addressed read by county commissioner, Harsama Kello before convening a rally at the same venue.
Speaking to KNU this evening, Lenku said he was overwhelmed by the reception he received in Kajiado Central when he met his supporters in Matapato North and South.
Lenku, who will be facing off with Nkedianye for the first time has been joined in the race by PNU candidate, Daniel Nina, from Kajiado South.
The race between Nkedianye of ODM and Lenku of Jubilee will be a litmus test for Uhuru and opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
Meanwhile, ODM dominated the Madaraka Day celebrations in Kitengela today when their supporters ridiculed candidate from other Nasa member parties.
Several candidates such as Simayiai Rakita of Wiper, who is contesting the seat of Kajiado Women MP, was booed down by ODM supporters along with Jason Parantai of Wiper seeking the senate seat.
