Kajiado West MP, Moses Sakuda on Wednesday commissioned the start of works on the 70 km Kibiko/Kimuka/Suswa road.

The work which is being undertaken by the national government will involve gravelling, murrumming and eventually will be topped up with bitumen.

Tenders for the tarmacking of the road, Sakuda said, will be opened on Tuesday, next week, at the Ministry of Roads headquarters.

This will be the first bitumen road to be undertaken by the national government in the western region of the county since independence.

Kibiko/Kimuka/Suswa road, once complete, will provide motorists a shorter access to Narok county from Kajiado.

Currently, most motorists travelling to Narok county access that region through Nairobi to Mai-Mahiu in Nakuru county.

An upbeat Sakuda, while witnessing the start of the gravelling and murrumming work in Kibiku, said it has been his big dream to see the road being upgraded while he is the area MP.

The stretch between Kimuka and Kibiko has been giving motorists a hell of a time because of its terrible condition.

Residents living along the road celebrated the start of the work on Wednesday and promised Sakuda votes in the coming general elections.
