Sunkuyia in Catch-twenty-two Situation as Sakuda Makes Comeback in West

Sunkuyia in Catch-twenty-two Situation as Sakuda Makes Comeback in West

Kajiado West MP, Moses Sakuda is making a come-back through independent party to claim his slot snatched away by George Sunkuyia, in the recent Jubilee Party nominations.

It will be do or die for Sunkuyia, who is alleged to have used his clan support to knock out Sakuda in the primaries.

It will be an uphill task for the man who clinched the JP ticket in the last primaries to move on owing to the fact that he amalgamated the votes of his clansman, Joseph Simel, to ensure Sakuda is kicked out.

Simel of ODM, who shares clan blood with Sunkuyia, will be going it alone with his supporters and Sakuda’s tormentor will be left alone to make ends meet ahead of the elections.

Sakuda, who comes from a different clan from both Simel and Sunkuyia, will most likely be the man to watch in the Kajiado West contest given the fact that his backyard support is intact.

While ODM is making in-roads in Kajiado West, the fact that Sunkuyia and Simel will be sharing the votes from their people, Sakuda will be shopping for the Diaspora votes in Kiserian, considered the votes’ basket for the constituency.

With the coming in of Kennedy Ondieki (Kanu), Gabriel Nemanagai (Wiper) and Jacob Gitau (Peoples Party), Kiserian will be a complicated vote-hand destination on the premise that this used to be Sakuda’s ‘granary’ for swing votes.

The electorate in Kiserian will be making their demands on the existing political stakes and accompanying goodies. The area, before, has been known to depend on handouts and if nothing has changed, the best bidder among the candidates is assured of more votes.

Kiserian is a more complicated urban centre in the county, and most of the people there are in the  ‘working class’ bracket and depending mostly in vending businesses, touting in the transport sector.

It is a town that is feared by most politicians because the area residents demand tokens before they are addressed.

A list released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission reveals that 27 candidates in the entire county will be seeking elective positions for parliamentary slots in all the five constituencies.

124 candidates will be gunning for the 25 available ward seats in the county assembly in the entire region.

The incumbent in Kajiado North, Joseph Manje (JP), will be facing off with the likes of Duncan Kabasa (Green Congress), Wycliffe Mwebi (Chap Chap), George Mocheche ODM), Kennedy Muiruri  (PNU) and Peter Ole Musei (Wiper).

In Kajiado Central, Elijah Memusi (ODM) will face off with Christopher Kosikir (JP), Richard Maripet (Kanu), Paul Kaika (Wiper) and Faith Lente (PNU).

Katoo ole Metito (JP) in Kajiado South will be meeting on the ballot box with Thomas Lekanaiyia of ODM and John Lalaito of PNU.

Kakuta Maimai of ODM, in his second bid is happy to face out with his political tormentor, Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko of JP. Others in the race are Emmanuel Mokoro of Chap Chap and David Parseina (Wiper).

Those vying on independent tickets include Kajiado West MP, Moses Sakuda, politicians; Francis Parsimei (Kajiado North), George Kimiti (Kajiado East) and Antony Kiroken (Kajiado Central.

Senate Race

So far, there will be five candidates from various parties who will be contesting for the senate position in Kajiado.

Among them are; Philip Mpaayei (JP), Daniel Tinaayai (ODM), Paul Patiah (PNU), Oliver Seki (LPK) and Jason Parantai of Wiper.

County Women Representative

Those in the list include; Martha Kerubo (ANC), Lucy Shurake (Independent), Janet Teyiaa (JP), Florence Mwangi (Kanu), Leah Somoire (MCC), Jane Mucheke (PNU), Justine Rakita (Wiper) and Esther Somoire of ODM.
