Some 200 Isinya women in Kajiado today blocked the Athi River-Namanga highway to protest against the operation of a toxic waste management plant in Kitengela. The road was closed for more than 4 hours.
The women were later talked to by the local elders into accepting to open the road and transport resumed immediately.
The owner of the factory has since sued governor David Nkedianye over the interruption that rocked the plant early in the year.
Prof. Philip Mwabe’s case came up for mention at Milimani court in Nairobi on Tuesday and full hearing resumes on May 19.
