Conquering Purko: Nkedianye in Unending Harvest of Jubilee Defectors

After conquering Kajiado South on Saturday, governor David Nkedianye was at it again today in Enkaroni area of Purko where he received 1,000 defectors from Jubilee.

Nkedianye who was hosted by ODM nominee for Purko Ward for MCA race, Daniel Naikuni, along with the Kajiado Central MP, Elijah Memusi, received a rousing welcome in Enkaroni.

More than 2, 000 supporters of ODM jammed the home of Naikuni, who use the occasion to receive Jubilee’s Simon Saitoti along with his followers.

Saitoti, who was trounced in the recent Jubilee nominations in the ward by the incumbent Jubilee MCA, quit the party so as to support Naikuni in his quest this August.

Jubilant ODM male supporters were joined by hundreds of women in singing revolutionary songs in praise of Memusi, Naikuni and governor Nkedianye.

In Marlal, Kajiado South, Nkedianye on Saturday took the county by storm when he bagged the highest number of defectors from Jubilee to his side.

The governor who was recently awarded a direct ticket by the ODM presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, said he is not surprised that jubilee supporters were trooping to ODM.

He claimed the Kajiado Maasai have made a decision against the will of some people, he did not name, in government who are out to divide them by imposing leaders on them.

“This is Maasai nation and the people of Kajiado have eyes to see what is right and wrong for them. They know who can lead them to prosperity, and that is the reason they are flocking to my camp,” said Nkedianye.

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery on Sunday in Loitokitok took issue with Nkedianye by claiming that no one defected to ODM from Jubilee on Saturday.

Nkaissery made an impromptu tour of Loitokitok, one day after Nkedianye caused a lot of ripples in the ruling coalition.

Local political pundits say Nkaissery had no choice but to rush to Kajiado South to do some “damage control” and please the powers that be in Nairobi.

On many occasion Nakissery has pleaded with the voters in Kajiado to embrace Jubilee because President Uhuru Kenyatta has never abandoned them.

He has been quoted severally saying he is campaigning for the ruling party so he can retain his job as a minister.
